- Olerud Retires - John Olerud retired from professional baseball on December 6, 2005. He did so in much the same way that he played the game - without much fanfare. Only a few short articles like this one reported his retirement.
- Starting Early - The John Olerud Hall of Fame Case - A nice article from January 2010 that discusses Olerud's chances for induction into the baseball Hall of Fame. Ultimately he didn't make it, but this article breaks down the stats that say he might be more deserving than most think.
- The Infamous Rickey Henderson Story - At a 2018 BBWAA event, Olerud debunks the funny story about Rickey Henderson supposedly forgetting they were previously teammates.
- The Jordan Fund - A charity founded in 2003 by John & Kelly Olerud, and named after their daughter Jordan, who was born with a rare chromosome disorder and sadly passed away on March 1, 2020 at the age of 19. The Jordan Fund's mission is to provide support for special needs children and their families.

An excellent trading site, where you can indicate which of your cards are for sale or trade, and indicate what cards you're looking for. It also is a great resource for identifying cards, as it contains over 2,000,000 scans, and has a very active discussion forum. It's a crowd-sourced site overseen by administrators.
- BaseballCardPedia.com - Another great resource for set information, checklists, etc. Also crowd-sourced similar to Wikipedia.
- teamsets4u.com - Huge selection of baseball team set checklists. Most of what's listed is also for sale.
